According to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), children can often be exposed to asbestos when playing and it is important that they be educated as to the potential dangers involved with asbestos exposure. Children should be educated as to what asbestos is and how the fine fibers can become airborne and inhaled. They should be told not to go into old and abandoned buildings, nor to play around any furnaces which were built before the 1980s.
